Telugu cinema now seems to revolve around just one major season—Sankranti. Everyone is competing for that coveted slot.
After witnessing the rush for Guntur Kaaram and HanuMan during Sankranti 2024, filmmakers have already locked dates for Sankranti 2025 well in advance.
Dil Raju had confirmed that a film from his banner, while Daaku Maharaaj had also set its date. In fact, Dil Raju came up with a film titled Sankrantiki Vasthunnam. With that, Sankranti 2025 made its merry, and now, the focus has shifted to 2026.
There is speculation that a Sandeep Reddy Vanga-Prabhas film might be released for Sankranti 2026, but it hasn’t gone on floors yet. However, if it does, Sandeep Vanga is expected to speed up the process.
As always, Sitara Entertainments, known for releasing films during Sankranti, is expected to bring one for 2026 as well.
Interestingly, while big-budget films have dominated the festival twice in a row, this time, the focus might shift to mid-range films.
There is a possibility that movies starring Siddu Jonnalagadda and Naveen Polishetty could be contenders.
Meanwhile, a film produced by Sahu Garapati, featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi and directed by Anil Ravipudi, is confirmed for Sankranti 2026.
Since there’s still room for another major release, producer Dil Raju might return to the race. There is also speculation that Balagam Venu-Nithiin's film Yellamma could be part of the lineup.
