Sandalwood Actress Gets Into Big Legal Trouble

Sanjjana Galrani, the Sandalwood actress who is also known for her Telugu films like “Bujjigadu” has been facing a big legal issue from past some time.

The Cubbon Park police have registered an FIR against the Sandalwood actor Sanjjanaa Galrani for allegedly splashing whiskey on movie producer Vandana Jain’s face which caused injuries to the latter’s eyes on the eve of Christmas in 2019.

Jain’s lawyer, Vikas Uthaiah told Bangalore Mirror that the registration of the complaint was delayed as the court proceedings have been slow since the lockdown last year.

The Cubbon Park police have booked the actor under IPC sections 326 A - acid attack, 335 - voluntarily causing grievous hurt or provocation, 323 - assault, 324 - assault using dangerous weapons, 506 - criminal intimidation and 504 - intentional insult. The cops are yet to question the actor regarding the incident.

On December 24, 2019 Jain and her friend were having dinner at Kaze Club on Lavelle Road. It is said that Galrani was sitting at another table with a mutual friend whom Jain knew.

Around 11 pm Jain approached their table to start a conversation with the mutual friend. It is said that he was asking Jain if he knew Galrani, because they weren’t talking.

It is said that the question made Galrani uncomfortable and she started to abuse Jain verbally. When Jain protested against such behaviour, an enraged Galrani allegedly took a glass of whiskey from their table and splashed its contents on Jain’s face.

“The whiskey entered her eyes and started to burn. She had to rush to a hospital to get treated,” Uthaiah said.

It is said that soon after her treatment, Jain headed to the Cubbon Park police station from the hospital and filed a complaint against Galrani, after which the police filed a Non-Cognisable Report (NCR).

Galrani allegedly started to badmouth Jain to local television channels to tarnish her reputation as a movie producer and cast aspersions on her personal life too.

It is said that after this incident, Jain along with her legal advocate, filed a private complaint with the local court in February, last year.

“Since the lockdown started in March last year, the court proceedings got delayed as an affidavit was needed to be filed. It took more than 16 months,” said Uthaiah.

The court has directed the Cubbon Park police to register a case based on Jain’s private complaint and investigate the matter further.

The Cubbon Park police registered a case on May 12, and are yet to question the actor regarding the incident.
