Samantha Ruth Prabhu has recently shared a surprising revelation about her battle with myositis.
During her speech at the India Today Conclave 2024, she disclosed that she felt compelled to make her diagnosis public. This revelation came in 2022, shocking her fans.
Following her diagnosis, Samantha took a break from acting and later became the brand ambassador for Myositis India.
Speaking at a conference, Samantha explained her decision to disclose her illness to the public, stating, "I felt pressured to reveal my condition. At that time, I had a female-centric film set for release, and I was very ill. It was a difficult time, and I wasn't prepared. There were rumors and misinformation spreading everywhere."
"The producers needed me to promote the film; otherwise, it would have failed. So, I agreed to do one interview. Obviously, I didn't look my best. I was heavily medicated to manage my symptoms. I felt compelled to do it. Given the choice, I wouldn't have gone public with it. The public labeled me as the sympathy queen," she added.
Myositis is a rare autoimmune disease that affects the muscles, causing weakness, pain, and fatigue. Early diagnosis and proper medical treatment are crucial in managing the condition.
On the professional front, Samantha is set to star alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian adaptation of 'Citadel'.
