Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-anticipated film Sikandar hit theatres worldwide today in an unusual Sunday release, aiming to capitalize on the pre-Eid holiday. However, the box office performance fell short of expectations.
Directed by AR Murugadoss and reportedly made on a hefty ₹200 crore budget, Sikandar was expected to rake in over ₹150 crores in its opening weekend. Hopes were high, but underwhelming pre-sales dashed expectations of a ₹50 crore opening day.
According to early estimates, the film earned between ₹26–28 crores on day one. With mixed early reviews, Sikandar failed to match the benchmark set by Salman’s Bharat (₹42.30 crore opening) and may not even break into his top five Eid openings.
While it surpassed the opening day collections of Sankranthiki Vasthunam (₹23 crores), L2: Empuraan (₹21 crores), and Daaku Maharaaj (₹25.35 crores), Sikandar couldn’t beat Chhaava — Bollywood’s biggest opener of 2025.
