Sai Dharam Tej starrer “Republic” was originally slated for June 4 release, but the makers postponed it indefinitely owing to the pandemic.
The film’s digital rights have already been snapped up by ZEE5. The group is also planning to buy theatrical and pay-for-view rights.
Zee Studios bought all rights of Sai Dharam Tej’s previous film “Solo Brathuke So Better” for a whopping price. But the studio first released the movie in theaters in December last year and then released it on Zee Plex on the pay-for-view method.
This time, they are planning to experiment as they did with Salman Khan’s “Radhe”. That is a hybrid release.
So, if Sai Tej agrees and the makers close a deal with Zee, “Republic” might release on Zee Plex for pay-for-view and also get screened in select theaters in overseas and other markets.
But the decision is yet to be taken.
Directed by Deva Katta and produced by Bhagavan and Pullarao, “Republic” is a political thriller.
