The Tamil-language action thriller 'Iravukku Aayiram Kangal' has been dubbed and released in Telugu by Aha Video as 'Reyi Ki Veyyi Kallu'. Starring Arulnithi as a cabbie, the film has been doing exceptionally well on OTT ever since it started streaming last Friday (Sep 30). This superb performance is in line with the Tamil original's hit status in theatres.
The twists that come in this murder mystery are keeping the viewer glued to the screens. Mystery, suspense, and action are gripping in this Mu. Maran directorial. The constantly and consistently thrilling ride has received accolades from both the audience and film critics.
The storyline has been elaborated into a screenplay-based movie. Director Maran has etched a fine story around the element of the murder mystery. What begins as a love story slowly takes the form of a suspense thriller with the entry of Ajmal's negative character.
The film's tone shifts after the introduction of elements like the trapping of innocent women and how they are blackmailed by the baddie. How Ajmal's character tries to make money by blackmailing his victims, has been portrayed in a nail-biting fashion.
A big plot turn comes when the male lead gets mired in a murder case. A video that exposes a secret affair, and the resultant drama make the film more interesting.
Actor Arulnithi is known for content-driven Tamil films like 'Demonte Colony', 'Dejavu', and 'Diary'. 'Reyi Ki Veyyi Kallu' has become a hit of sorts with the OTT audience. Its Tamil original, released in theatres, ran for 50 days with very good collections.
The 'reverse order' screenplay of the film has been widely acclaimed. Christopher Nolan's 'Memento' was the first movie to introduce the original screenplay technique. Director Maran penned a highly engaging screenplay based on a simple story by following the technique. That's why the film doesn't bore the audience.
The story of 'Reyi Ki Veyyi Kallu' takes place between a no-nonsense cabbie Bharath (Arulnithi) and a blackmailer named Ganesh (Ajmal). You won't be able to guess who the murderer is till the last minute. Sam CS of 'Ramarao On Duty' fame has composed the music. His BGM is outstanding and novel, considered one of his career-best outputs. Besides the BGM, Aravinnd Singh's cinematography and San Lokesh's editing are top-notch.
The Tamil original was produced by G. Dilli Babu of 'Ratsasan' ('Rakshasudu' in Telugu) fame. Rajasekhar Annabhimoju has dubbed the Telugu version and released it on AHA.
