At least half a dozen Telugu films are in the stages of closing deals with OTT platforms for direct-digital release.
Venkatesh starrer “Narappa” and “Drushyam 2” will be streamed directly on OTT platforms.
The deals have almost been closed. “Drushaym 2” has been sold to Hotstar for a handsome price. “Narappa” has cleared its censor formalities and is closing a deal with Amazon Prime.
An official statement about these two movies will be made next month. Skipping theatrical release for his two movies is a bold decision that Venkatesh had taken.
Bunny Vaas is also contemplating selling off the direct-digital rights of his two upcoming movies “Most Eligible Bachelor” and “18 Pages”.
The Akhil Akkineni starrer “Most Eligible Bachelor” is seeing resistance from Nagarjuna for the OTT premiere. But Bunny Vaas has already initiated discussions with Amazon and Aha for better prices.
The producers of “Paagal”, and “Virata Parvam” will decide on releasing on OTT platforms after seeing the developments for another month.
