Ravi Teja: A Star Losing His Shine?

Ravi Teja: A Star Losing His Shine?

Ravi Teja's recent movies have lost the charm that once defined his career. It's unclear whether this change is due to the directors' influence or if Ravi Teja's mindset has shifted.

After watching Mr. Bachchan's movie, this feeling only intensified, leaving Ravi Teja's fans in despair.

His last three films, Tiger Nageshwara Rao, Eagle, and Mr. Bachchan, all have period backdrops. His look also carries no significant change from film to film. It is difficult to distinguish which dialogue belongs to which Ravi Teja film.

The passionate actor in him is not visible; it seems he simply signs films based on remuneration. That's the reason he ends up with a series of flops. Had there been no Dhamaka and Krack in between, his career would have been in serious jeopardy. His films Rama Rao On Duty, Khiladi, and Amar Akbar Anthony were all disasters.

Setting all this aside, it is said that Rs 90 Cr was spent on making Mr. Bachchan, including the Rs 30 Cr remuneration to Ravi Teja. But the openings were so poor that it could pull in only Rs  1.8 Cr net for the shows after 7 PM on Wednesday and Rs 3.5 Cr net on Thursday totaling shows. If this is the pull factor of a Rs 30 Cr hero, then it is shocking. Openings determine the star power of a hero. The total recovery becomes challenging.

Ravi Teja's market is not in tune with that of his remuneration, but there are producers who are readily investing in him with overconfidence. However, the overall recovery of the film is often much less than the film's budget, which is a point to be seriously considered by both the makers and Ravi Teja.

He needs to be more careful about the scripts he chooses and should aim at delivering something different from the routine. If he takes his films lightly, then the audience will also take him lightly. And, of course, that is reflecting in his opening collections, as mentioned above.
