Her latest film, Chhaava, co-starring Vicky Kaushal, recently hit theaters worldwide, earning ₹33 crore in India on its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest openers in recent memory.
However, it’s still too early to declare it a hit, as the film needs to maintain its momentum beyond Monday.
Meanwhile, Rashmika stirred controversy during Chhaava's promotional event in Mumbai when she told fans that she was from Hyderabad.
While praising the Hindi audience for accepting her as a Maratha queen despite being from Hyderabad, Rashmika’s comment upset many Kannadigas, who criticized her for seemingly ignoring her Karnataka roots.
One X user commented, “I sometimes feel pity for you for receiving unnecessary negativity/targeting from our fellow Kannadigas. But when you make statements like this, I think they are right, and you deserve the backlash.”
Rashmika, who hails from Coorg, Karnataka, now resides in Hyderabad and has gained national recognition through her roles in Telugu cinema.
