Rao Ramesh is among the highest-paid character artists in Tollywood, reportedly earning Rs 4.5 lakh per day per call sheet. This rate has sparked much speculation and debate.
In an exclusive interview with Great Andhra, Rao Ramesh addressed these rumors.
He clarified, "Rs 4.5 lakh is a lesser figure. I have earned more than that per day, all in white money with taxes paid on every paisa."
He emphasized that Telugu character artists are typically paid less than their bilingual counterparts.
Ramesh explained that negotiations in the industry are common, noting, "If we ask for 100 rupees, they start bargaining at 50."
He stated that remuneration varies by project and depends on his interest in the character.
He also commented on the disparity in pay between local and outside actors, saying, "Outsiders are earning 2-3 times more than me, yet no one writes about them."
He didn't complain about the film makers' choice of actors and explained that even if some actor lives next to Annapurna studios he will not be called due to proximity, but will bring in the actor of their choice from any where they want.
Rao Ramesh, known for his versatility in comedy, villainy and character roles, is highly regarded for his dialogue delivery.
In the interview, he spoke openly about his philosophy, thoughts on Tollywood and the direction of Telugu cinema.
