Ranveer's 'Sex With Parents' Comment Sparks Parliament Row

YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, is facing mounting trouble over his controversial remarks on the roast show India’s Got Latent.

Despite issuing a public apology for his crude comments, the controversy continues to escalate.

Several Members of Parliament have raised complaints, prompting a Parliamentary panel on information technology to consider summoning Allahbadia. He may be issued a notice to appear before the panel and answer questions related to the incident.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, Rajya Sabha MP from Shiv Sena (UBT), has vowed to raise the issue.

"Abusive language under the guise of comedy is unacceptable. Having a platform does not give you the right to say anything. He has millions of followers, and even prominent political leaders have appeared on his podcast. As a member of the Standing Committee for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, I will raise this issue," she said on X.

Police complaints have been filed in Mumbai and Guwahati against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, influencer Apoorva Makhija, and others involved in the India’s Got Latent episode.

In the clip, now viral, Allahbadia asks a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?"

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Allahbadia, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, comedian Jaspreet Singh, Makhija, and Raina for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions.

Mumbai Police are also investigating the matter, with multiple complaints filed against Allahbadia, who boasts 4.5 million Instagram followers and over 10 million YouTube subscribers. Both Allahbadia and Raina have been asked to join the probe.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commented on the issue, saying, "Everyone has freedom of speech, but this freedom ends when it infringes on others' rights. If anyone crosses the line, action will be taken."

Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued a video apology, admitting that his comment was inappropriate and not funny. "Comedy is not my forte, and I had a lapse in judgment. I’m here to say sorry," he said.
