The trailer of Rang De gave an impression that the story has similarities with yesteryear super hit Nuvve Kavali.
However, director Venky Atluri defends saying Rang De falls under the same genre but it’s a completely new film with a different setup.
“Nuvve Kavali and Anandam are the films that come to our minds when films in colony backdrop with hero and heroine as neighbors. However, Rang De is completely different from Nuvve Kavali. What you have seen in the trailer is part of the film’s story. There’s much more content in the film.”
The director says he is under pressure not because of the outcome, but due to other reasons.
“We wanted to release Rang De by the end of 2019 or early in 2020. But, due to the corona pandemic, the film got delayed for more than a year. I always wanted my producer to be in safe zone. The budget has increased due to the unwanted delay and I’m worried only about it.”
Venky informs Rang De was the working title for his first film Tholi Prema.
“We changed the title to Tholi Prema and it worked wonders. However, I didn’t lose the liking for the title Rang De. Since the title is apt for the story, we named my third film Rang De.
Celebration of Holi or rainbow is symbol of splash of colors. Likewise, there will be splash of emotions in Rang De.”
Venky who is all praises for his hero Nithiin and heroine Keerthy Suresh for their brilliant acting says he’s a big devotee of Trivikram Srinivas who used to give his inputs.
