Sports based generate special interest as they have elements to cause the feeling of an adrenaline rush.
Hero Naga Shaurya is coming up with Lakshya which is based on the ancient sport Archery. Directed by Santhosh Jagarlapudi, the film is arriving in theatres tomorrow.
The actor wanted to go for a complete makeover, as these kinds of subjects come rarely.
“It’s a rarity to have family drama and commercial elements in a sports drama. Every actor puts in extra efforts do these kinds of movies.”
Shaurya says he sensed the amount of research underwent to prepare the subject, when he first heard the detailed narration.
The actor affirms it’s not easy to learn the sport, as the bow weighs around 35 kgs and bending it back to hit the target is very tough.
About the theme of the movie, he says, “The film is about the protagonist winning himself and then the world.”
Shaurya informs Rajamouli’s Sye is an inspiration for Lakshya.
“The game rugby isn’t a familiar sport. If narrated easily and explicably, audience will accept it. In that case, Santhosh did his job well.”
Shaurya built 8 pack abs for the film and he didn’t even drink water for a total of 9 days.
“In order to flaunt abs, I didn’t drink water. But it’s not recommendable.”
Was that really important for Shaurya to undergo such makeover for the film, he explains, “It’s really important to show how this character has evolved. It’s important to show how he has changed as a very disciplined person.”
Shaurya calls Sri Venkateswara Cinemas as his second home production.
“I feel very comfortable working with them. I wish to do many films under the banner.”
