The first quarter of 2025 delivered a mixed bag for Telugu films at the US box office.
While “Sankranthiki Vasthunam” dominated with a blockbuster $3 million collection, “Daaku Maharaaj” ($1.57M) and “Mad Square” ($1M+) also emerged as hits. “Court” managed to reach the $1M mark, showing decent performance.
However, several anticipated films failed to meet expectations.
“Game Changer” ($2.09M) was declared a disaster despite a strong opening. “Thandel” ($860K) and “Mazaka” ($158K) struggled, landing in the flop category.
Smaller releases like “Laila” ($48K), “Dilruba” ($30K), and “Robinhood” ($200K) fared even worse, all ending as disasters.
With three quarters left in 2025, the industry will be keenly watching upcoming big releases to turn the tide.
While a few films succeeded, many underwhelmed, reflecting the unpredictable nature of the US market for Telugu cinema.
