Amidst this, the film’s original Telugu version has achieved a remarkable milestone, overtaking the lifetime collection of Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in the Telugu market.
Originally a Tollywood production, Pushpa 2 has behaved like a native Hindi release, thanks to the massive success of its first installment and the popularity of Allu Arjun’s character in the Hindi belt.
While the Telugu version slowed after the initial rush, it has maintained a presence in theatres despite fierce competition.
This Sankranti, three major Tollywood films—Game Changer, Daaku Maharaaj, and Sankranthiki Vasthunam—debuted in cinemas, posing a potential threat to Pushpa 2.
Surprisingly, the Telugu version held its ground, and with a reloaded version releasing this Friday, it may extend its theatrical run.
As of the latest update, Pushpa 2’s Telugu version has amassed a stellar ₹400 crore gross at the Indian box office in 41 days, surpassing the Telugu lifetime total of Baahubali 2, which stood at ₹399.78 crore.
However, Pushpa 2 still falls short of the top spot. With a staggering ₹508.59 crore, RRR remains the highest-grossing Telugu film of all time.
It will be intriguing to see which film can dethrone RRR in the future.
