Superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule has surpassed Prabhas-led Kalki 2898 AD to claim the title of the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024.
Both films have crossed the ₹1000 crore milestone globally, making them the only Indian releases this year to achieve this feat.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 has amassed approximately ₹1060 crore worldwide, including ₹867 crore gross in India, during its extended 8-day opening weekend.
This pushes it past Kalki 2898 AD, which earned ₹1042 crore globally, including ₹767 crore domestically. However, Kalki remains the highest-grossing Indian film overseas, with ₹275 crore gross.
Additionally, Pushpa 2 has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (₹1055 crore gross) to become the sixth highest-grossing Indian film of all time worldwide.
It is poised to overtake SRK's Jawan (₹1160 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 (₹1215 crore), and RRR (₹1230 crore) this weekend, potentially securing the third spot in the all-time rankings.
The top two Indian films at the worldwide box office remain Aamir Khan's Dangal (₹2070 crore gross) and Prabhas' Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (₹1788 crore gross).
While Pushpa 2 has a long way to go to challenge these records, its performance in the coming weeks will determine whether it can continue its ascent.
