The teaser of Nani's new film Paradise was released recently. Generally, trailers come and go, and film buffs watch them to form opinions.
However, Paradise’s teaser has sparked widespread discussion—not just among film circles but also among the general public and social media.
Good, bad, or ugly—publicity is still publicity. If the makers see it that way, there’s no issue. Otherwise, the backlash the teaser has received is quite severe.
A working woman from Madhapur remarked, “This is terrible. Nani is known as a family hero. How can any family audience even tolerate the word tattooed on his hand in the teaser? Paradise will be ‘hell’ for family viewers—they’ll strictly avoid it.”
The film’s team and Nani might argue that Paradise is not targeted at family audiences but at the youth.
However, a college student commented, “Nani seems to be imitating Ranbir Kapoor from Animal, but he doesn’t have that aura. His two braids and the excessive bloodshed feel forced. This will flop.”
A social media comment reads, “We used to call him ‘Natural Star’ Nani, but after this film, people might start calling him ‘LK Nani’—and we all know what that means. If Nani is okay with it, no problem. But with social media, anti-fans will attack hard.”
A film buff observed, “Nani’s highest-grossing film was Dasara. Since then, he might believe audiences prefer him in raw, rugged roles. It looks like he’s taken it up a notch with Paradise.”
Ultimately, the Paradise teaser has received mostly negative feedback. Whether this controversy boosts the film’s hype or damages its prospects remains to be seen.
However, the censor board’s approval of the controversial word in the film will be a major challenge, as it is generally unacceptable in civilized society.
