After making the biopic on legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N T Rama Rao, his son and senior Tollywood actor Nandamuri Balakrishna decided that all his forthcoming films would be made under his own banner NBK Productions.
However, the biopic bombed at the box office and caused huge loss to him as well as the buyers.
As a result, Balakrishna has given up his idea of making his own films because any film that he makes has to offset the losses incurred from NTR biopic.
So, Balakrishna is now doing his latest film being produced by C Kalyan. The most interesting part of this film is that Balakrishna had demanded a remuneration of Rs 10 crore.
In the past, the senior actor used to get only Rs 4 crore to Rs 5 crore as remuneration for his films. But after NTR biopic was sold for a very high price, he demanded Rs 10 crore for his latest film.
The producer had no option but to agree to pay this hefty remuneration, since nobody can say no if Balakrishna puts forth his demand.
The question here is whether Balakrishna’s films have so much demand in the market that warrants payment of so much remuneration to him. Do his films have so much range in the market?
Industry sources say Balakrishna’s films are unpredictable. They can be big hits, if everything goes well, but if they misfire at the box office, producers will have to incur huge losses.
But when Balakrishna demands certain remuneration, the producers have to take a risk, as they do not have the guts to explain the commercials to him.
So, they feel that it would be safer to pay whatever Balakrishna demands, instead of facing litigations like demanding a share in the profits.
