Prithviraj's Mother On Income Tax Notice

Prithviraj's Mother On Income Tax Notice

Regarding his earnings from three 2022 films, Jana Gana Mana, Gold, and Kaduva, actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran has received a notice from the Income Tax Department.

The notice, which was sent out on March 29, was issued soon after his most recent and contentious movie, L2: Empuraan, was released.

The deadline for his response is April 29. "We are not afraid of any investigation," said his mother, seasoned actor Mallika Sukumaran, in defense of him.

L2: Empuraan, released on March 27, faced backlash for references to the 2002 Gujarat riots.

24 cuts totaling more than two minutes were made to the film as a result of the BJP and RSS workers' criticism.

It broke records and became the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, despite the controversy.

Following public outcry, lead actor Mohanlal issued an apology on Facebook, assuring that the team had decided to remove politically sensitive content to avoid hurting sentiments.
