The day-long interrogation of popular comedian-turned-politician Posani Krishna Murali by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday is reported to have revealed some interesting details, as per pro-Telugu Desam Party (TDP) newspapers.
According to these reports, during the CID questioning, Posani attributed his controversial remarks against TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan to the Sakshi media team.
He reportedly told the CID authorities that Sakshi media house organized press meets and dictated the topics he should discuss with the media. However, he admitted that he never verified whether the information provided to him was accurate.
Posani was questioned in connection with a complaint filed by Telugu Yuvatha state spokesperson Bandaru Vamsi Krishna on October 9 last year.
The complaint alleged that Posani had made derogatory remarks about TDP and Jana Sena Party leaders at press conferences and on social media, as well as posted morphed photos and videos targeting them.
According to media reports, CID Deputy Superintendent of Police Lakshmaiah and his team posed 32 questions to Posani.
While he provided clear answers to some, he reportedly responded vaguely to others, claiming he was unaware or could not recall certain details.
However, Posani stated that nobody had instructed him to post derogatory comments on social media or make statements against Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh online.
“I reacted on my own because opposition alliance leaders and workers were abusing me and my family,” he reportedly said.
He added that during press conferences, the Sakshi media house provided all the information on what to say and what to avoid.
When questioned about his claim that Naidu had prostrated before Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, and whether he had any video evidence, Posani admitted that he made the allegation based on directions from the Sakshi team.
“The videos and photos I presented at my press meet were given to me by Sakshi. I do not have any personal copies of those videos,” he said.
He further admitted that he never verified whether the images were morphed or genuine.
“Since they were provided by Sakshi, I assumed they were authentic,” he added.
