After taking on serious roles in his recent projects, Sundeep Kishan is set to bring a dose of humor to the big screen with his upcoming film Mazaka, directed by Thrinadha Rao Nakkina.
The movie is set to release on February 26th, coinciding with Maha Shivaratri, and expectations are high.
Sundeep shares that his role in Mazaka is full of energy.
“My character’s name is Krishna. I’ve done comedic roles before—my role in Beeruva had a comedic undertone, while in Venkatadri Express, my character was more serious. However, Mazaka is my first full-fledged comedy entertainer,” he explains.
The film also features Rao Ramesh as Sundeep’s father.
“Rao Ramesh has been part of some incredible films, and I believe Mazaka will earn him even more respect as an actor. In the film, I live with my father, and we’re both bachelors in the same house, enjoying life and having fun together. There are plenty of surprises and fun moments in the movie.”
Sundeep elaborates on why he chose to take on this role.
“My last few films had a more serious tone, so I wanted to do a family entertainer. Thankfully, I got the chance to collaborate with Thrinadha Rao and Prasanna on this project. Mazaka has a fresh concept that hasn’t been seen before, and it’s bound to surprise the audience. We created it with the intent to offer families a film they can enjoy together.”
However, Sundeep reveals that one of his favorite dialogues from the film was censored.
“A scene in the movie has reference from Kushi. My father’s character sees hip that shakes him, and I ask, ‘What happened, dad?’ He replies, ‘Now I understand why the Pithapuram MLA was so scared when he saw something like this.’ Unfortunately, that dialogue was censored.”
Looking to the future, Sundeep shares his aspirations.
“I’ve always wanted to do a periodic film, something like Robin Hood, with a fantasy element. I also dream of being part of a love story like Ranjhanaa.”
Sundeep remains optimistic about Mazaka, hoping it will become the biggest hit of his career.
