At last, Jana Sena Party president and actor Pawan Kalyan will not make any comment on any issue concerning the Tollywood that might cause embarrassment to the film industry people.
Following the suggestion from the Andhra Pradesh government, representatives of Telugu film industry including Dil Raju, D V V Danaiah, Naveen Erneni, Vamsi Reddy, Sunil Narang and Bunny Vaas had a meeting with Pawan Kalyan at his residence on Friday.
They requested Pawan Kalyan not to make any controversial comments hereafter that would anger the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments. They reminded him that without the support of the governments, the industry would not survive.
Pawan gave them a patient hearing and explained to them in what contest he had to make certain comments criticising the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh on online cinema ticketing and other issues.
He reportedly told them that there is no need to bow before the governments with a begging bowl, but the industry should get the issues resolved in a dignified manner through negotiations.
The Jana Sena chief, however, assured them that he would not interfere in any manner in the discussions between the film industry and the Telugu state governments.
“I will not club my political activity with the Tollywood issues. Hereafter, I won’t talk about Tollywood issues in public forums,” he said.
The aggressive comments made by Pawan Kalyan against the Jagan government on the online cinema ticketing issues and the reduction of cinema ticket rates in theatres has led to a confrontation between him and the ruling YSR Congress party leaders led by state information and public relations minister Perni Nani.
Realising that the confrontation has spoiled all the efforts done by the film industry to get their issues with the AP government resolved, the Telugu film chamber of commerce and other film producers declared that Pawan’s comments are his personal and have nothing to do with the film industry.
Subsequently, Dil Raju and his team met Perni Nani a couple of days ago and clarified their stand, besides declaring before the media that they were differing with Pawan Kalyan’s comments.
Apparently, Nani told the Tollywood delegation that they should meet Pawan Kalyan and ask him not to drag the issue further, lest it would damage the film industry altogether.
