For the last two days, senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao has been in the news with his explosive comments against the party high command for tentatively deciding Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy the new president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
He threatened to quit the Congress party if Revanth is made the PCC chief and the high command, too, is said to be serious over his comments.
It is likely to serve a show-cause notice on him for his allegations against AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs Manickam Tagore.
Though his own position in the Congress party is precarious, VH made a bumper offer to Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan.
“If Pawan Kalyan joins the Congress, I will see that he will be made the PCC president,” the veteran leader said.
He made these comments, while unveiling the statue of Kapu leader late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga at Dondapadu village of Thullur mandal in Amaravati.
“After Ranga, it is only Pawan Kalyan who has a lot of craze among the Kapus. He has a bright future if he joins the Congress and I will get him the PCC chief post,” VH said.
“Just because I have demanded that the PCC chief post should be given to the BCs, I am getting threatening calls. The Congress party is being ruined by Reddys, who are not even three per cent of the population,” he alleged.
VH hoped that Kapus, who constituted 27 per cent of the population in the state, should come to power at any cost.
“Had Vangaveeti been alive, he would have become the chief minister by now. But he was murdered only because the upper castes did not like his growth,” he alleged.
He, however, did not say whether he wants Pawan Kalyan to be the PCC chief in Telangana or in Andhra. If he is talking about Andhra, then, there is a little chance for Pawan, as the Congress is completely buried there. If he is talking about Telangana, then Pawan has no relevance here.
Since VH is strongly opposing Revanth Reddy becoming the PCC chief in Telangana, one can only assume that he is projecting Pawan Kalyan as an alternative to Revanth Reddy in Telangana.
