The Government of India recently honored actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna with the Padma Bhushan, the nation’s third-highest civilian award.
While celebrities and fans congratulated him, praising his long history of record-breaking successes, some criticized the Modi government for allegedly yielding to TDP’s pressure.
At the same time, some of Balakrishna’s fans expressed that he deserved the award much earlier, noting that actors like megastar Chiranjeevi received it long ago.
Responding to these comments, Balakrishna stated that the award came at the right time.
"My father, N.T. Rama Rao’s first film, Mana Desam, marked 75 years since its release. I was elected as an MLA for the third time, and my career has taken a new turn with a series of hits in my second innings, success as a talk show host, and the completion of my 50-year acting career—all of which happened recently. So, the Padma Bhushan has been awarded at the perfect time," Balakrishna explained.
He also reiterated that "his records are unbeatable."
