Overseas Box Office: Thandel Is A Failure

Overseas Box Office: Thandel Is A Failure

Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, has had a decent run in India so far, but the same can’t be said for its overseas performance, particularly in North America.

Despite opening on a promising note, the film struggled to maintain momentum in the following days.

The romantic action thriller collected $419K on its opening day, including $236K from premieres. However, it saw a decline on day 2 with earnings of $173K.

Day 3 witnessed a significant drop to $79K, and the downward trend continued on Monday with collections of just $27K.

Thanks to ticket discounts, day 5 (Tuesday) showed some improvement, bringing in $60K. In total, Thandel earned $758K (₹6.59 crores) in five days at the North American box office.

The breakeven target for Thandel in North America is approximately $1.5 million (₹13.04 crores), with the USA alone needing $1.40 million (₹12.17 crores) to break even.

With current earnings falling short of $800K, the gap remains considerable.

Starting Friday, the number of locations screening the film will be reduced significantly, which is expected to have a further adverse impact on its collections.

Given the current scenario, it appears unlikely that Thandel will reach its breakeven mark in North America, making it a probable failure in the region.

It also joins the list of underperforming Tollywood biggies in 2025, following Ram Charan’s Game Changer.
