While most of the content made for theatrical experience is failing to impress audiences on digital space, the content that is exclusively made for OTT platforms is getting better and better by the day.
If you are confused about what to watch amid the sea of content that is currently streaming online, we suggest a couple of titles that are worth binging on.
1) Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story: This is a ten-episode crime drama adapted from the book The Scam: Who Won, who Lost, who Got Away.
It is directed by Hansal Mehta – Jai Mehta and stars Pratik Gandhi, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanvantari, Nikhil Dwivedi and others. It is easily one of the best Indian series ever. It is well-paced and keeps you hooked right from the word go.
The series will not only engage the viewers that are not aware of the scam but also those who have read a lot about in the news or the book it was adapted from.
Streaming On: SonyLIV
2) Putham Pudhu Kaalai: It is a Tamil anthology film made by some of the best filmmakers of Tamil Cinema. Its theme is ‘lockdown’ and the directors have come up with endearing short stories that will tug at your heartstrings.
The five short film segments are directed by Sudha Kongara (Ilamai Idho Idho), Gautham Menon (Avarum Naanum – Avalum Naanum), Suhasini Manirathnam (Coffe, Anyone?), Reunion (Rajiv Menon) and Miracle (Karthik Subbaraj).
Sudha Kongara’s short film set the tone for the anthology with a feelgood romance tale. With good performances and aeasthetics, it is the best of the lot.
Gautham Menon keeps it simple by telling the story of a grandpa and grand daughter in a heart touching way. Suhasini’s and Rajiv’s works are okay but not so great.
Karthik Subbaraj’s segment is the only one with a dark theme and grey characters. But it is also the most complete story among all with a brilliant twist at the end.
Streaming On: Amazon Prime Video.
