There have been numerous instances where superhit films in one language have failed miserably when remade in another language.
For instance, Akshay Kumar's Bachchan Pandey, a Hindi remake of Telugu hit movie Gaddalakonda Ganesh, was a colossal disaster at the box office.
Similarly, Shezaada, the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunta Puramu Lo, went unnoticed.
The remake of Jersey from Telugu was also a forgettable failure.
Now, the latest addition to this list is Bholaa, a Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil film Kaithi, starring Karthi.
Unfortunately, the audience who watched the film did not get what was expected, and critics unanimously agreed that the remake killed the original essence of the film.
Interestingly, Ajay Devgn himself directed the film, but despite having ace technicians working on it, things didn't work in favor.
Ravi Basrur, known for his work on KGF, scored the background score of the film, which was criticized for being over the board and loud.
On the whole, it seems that North Indian filmmakers are unable to transform a superhit script with the required grip and grit, unlike their South Indian counterparts.
It is surprising to see that all Hindi remakes from the South Indian film industry are turning out to be flops, with the exception of content-driven subjects like Drushyam from Malayalam.
The North Indian film industry needs to learn from the South Indian film industry when it comes to recreating magic on the big screen.
