It has been three days since the release of Adipurush, and the film has received a mixed response from fans.
While the story and the modern adaptation of Ramayan have generated interest, it is Prabhas' portrayal of Raghav (Lord Ram) that has captured the maximum attention ever since the project was announced.
When asked if he had any concerns before accepting the role, Prabhas explains, "There were apprehensions, but no reservations. Portraying such a revered figure comes with great responsibility, considering the emotional and spiritual attachment people have towards Prabhu Shri Ram."
In a previous interview, Prabhas expressed that if he made a mistake with Baahubali, it would have been acceptable, but he couldn't take that chance with Adipurush.
Elaborating on his reasons, he says, "This film revolves around the epic tale of Ramayana, which is deeply rooted in Indian culture and religion. Hence, my approach was to portray this character with utmost authenticity and respect, as we have all grown up listening to this story, and there are numerous emotional and spiritual aspects attached to it."
In the film, he shares the screen with Kriti Sanon, who plays the role of Sita. While Prabhas hails from the Telugu film industry, Sanon comes from the North. One might assume that the difference in working styles could have posed challenges in finding common ground, but Prabhas states that it was not the case.
Considering Prabhas's unparalleled fandom when the Baahubali franchise became a massive success, his fans were seemingly disappointed when his last two outings—Saaho and Radhe Shyam—failed to garner a positive response. This also raised doubts about whether audiences wanted to see him in any other larger-than-life character.
When this is brought up to the actor, he clarifies that, more than the hero persona, the "character or content" plays a significant role.
"The success of a film at the box office depends on many factors, but as an actor, I focus more on delivering my best performance. Whether it's a hero or any other role, I want to bring my best to the table every time. My job as an actor is to make the audience resonate with a character, to make them feel a connection," concludes the actor.
