Popular Tollywood comedian and writer Posani Krishna Murali, who was expected to be released from jail on bail on Wednesday in connection with alleged abusive remarks against TDP and Jana Sena leaders, did not receive the anticipated relief as the Crime Investigation Department (CID) police intervened.
The CID police issued a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant against him, seeking to take him into custody and present him before the court.
A team of CID officials from Guntur visited the Kurnool district jail, where Posani is currently lodged.
He is set to be presented before the Guntur court under the PT warrant directly from Kurnool jail via online proceedings. As a result, his release is unlikely today, and he may instead be transferred to Guntur jail.
Although Posani has secured bail in all cases, his release has been stalled due to the PT warrant issued by the CID police.
Meanwhile, the Narasaraopet 2-Town police (Palnadu district) have filed a petition in the local First Additional Junior Civil Judge Court, seeking one-week police custody of Posani Krishna Murali.
On March 3, Narasaraopet police took Posani from Rajampet Sub-Jail (Annamayya district) under a PT warrant and produced him before the local court, which remanded him.
Seeking further investigation, they filed a custody petition the same day. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court granted two-day custody (March 8 and 9) to the Narasaraopet 2-Town police.
However, during this period, Bhavanipuram police (Vijayawada) took Posani under a PT warrant, preventing the Narasaraopet police from questioning him. As a result, they have now filed a fresh petition for custody.
In another development, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Vijayawada has granted bail to Posani, who remains lodged in Kurnool Jail.
Similarly, he has secured bail in a case filed in Adoni (Kurnool district), with Adoni Additional Judicial First-Class In-charge Magistrate Aparna issuing bail orders on Tuesday.
Overall, 17 cases have been registered against Posani by the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government.
He was arrested on February 26, Maha Shivaratri day, in Hyderabad by Obulavaripalle police (Annamayya district) for making abusive comments during multiple press conferences while being affiliated with the YSR Congress Party.
