Forget about Pan-India image, it is now becoming difficult for many Telugu heroes to gain popularity in the neighboring state itself.
Almost every Tollywood hero is trying his luck in Kollywood. However, in recent times, no Telugu hero has been successful in Tamil.
Naga Chaitanya recently made his entry into Kollywood with high expectations on 'Custody'.
He collaborated with renowned directors like Venkat Prabhu and popular music directors like Ilayaraja-Yuvan Shankar Raja. Unfortunately, the expected result did not materialize.
The movie "Custody," released in approximately a hundred theaters in Tamil Nadu, turned out to be a flop.
Saitej also tried his luck in Kollywood before Chaitanya and faced failure. His movie Virupaksha released in Tamil Nadu proved to be a flop.
However, the movie, which was a hit in Telugu, failed to make an impact in Tamil Nadu. The daily collections were disappointing, ranging from 14 lakhs to 7 lakhs on first 3-4 days.
Nani also ventured into Kollywood with the film "Dasara." Despite having a star attraction like Keerthy Suresh, "Dasara" failed to make an impact in Tamil Nadu.
Similar to Saitej and Naga Chaitanya, Nani also visited Chennai to promote the film and collaborated with anchors and YouTubers there. However, the outcome was disappointing.
These are just a few of the recent experiences of our heroes in Kollywood. Looking back, heroes like Ram with "Warrior" and Mahesh Babu with "Spyder" also faced failures there.
It's becoming increasingly challenging for producers to invest money in Chennai promotions.
