There is a buzz within the film industry about some leading producers planning to submit a proposal to the Andhra Pradesh government, aimed at benefiting both the film industry and the real estate sectors of Amaravathi and Visakhapatnam.
An insider mentioned that a prominent producer, along with some like-minded individuals, is taking steps to materialize something similar to Film Nagar in Hyderabad, potentially in Amaravathi or in Bhimili near Vizag.
A proposal was discussed during one of the MAA Meetings four years ago, suggesting the development of studios and a Film Nagar-like facility on the 369 acres of land allocated by YS Rajasekhar Reddy's government near Bhimili for 'AP Chalana Chitra Mandali' in 2009. But nothing was moved in the last five years of Jagan Mohan Reddy's rule as MAA Association also failed to pursue it.
In addition to this, industry bigwigs are reportedly considering a Film Nagar in Amaravathi, as per sources. The industry's goal appears to be establishing a presence either in Bhimili near Vizag, Amaravathi, or both locations.
If this move materializes, it could lead to a significant rush among industry professionals and members of different crafts to acquire land at cheaper prices in the aforementioned areas of Andhra Pradesh.
It remains to be seen what conditions the AP Government might set before granting land to the film industry, such as promoting shoots in AP and boosting the state's income from the industry.
