Not long ago, Telugu Desam Party official spokesperson and chairman of AP State Fibernet Corporation G V Reddy resigned from the party and also his post, apparently peeved at the party leadership questioning his decision to sack 400 employees of the corporation who were appointed by the previous YSR Congress party regime and were taking salaries without doing any work.
Reddy addressed a press conference and questioned the non-cooperation of the corporation MD and IAS officer Dinesh Kumar in streamlining the corporation. Subsequently, Reddy quit the post and Dinesh Kumar was shunted out of the corporation.
After nearly three months, the Chandrababu Naidu government issued orders terminating the services of 500 employees in one go.
Most of these employees were recruited through Surya Enterprises, allegedly belonging to the YSRCP leders.
These individuals were working on annual contract renewals and have now been informed that their contracts will not be extended beyond this month.
It was reportedly found that the dismissed employees were drawing salaries without actively reporting to the office or carrying out their assigned duties. This prompted the authorities to take the bold step of removing them from service.
Reddy alleged then that a large number of these appointments were made during the previous YSRCP government, drawing heavy criticism at the time, especially over allegations that many employees were being paid without doing any work. Despite this, the YSRCP government had continued their employment.
