Nagarjuna hurt, says demolition illegal

Senior Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna on Saturday expressed anguish over the speed with which the Telangana government is demolishing the N-Convention Centre, allegedly constructed by encroaching upon the buffer zone of Tummidi Cheruvu tank at Madhapur.

Taking to social media, Nagarjuna said he was very much pained by the unlawful manner of demolition carried out in respect of N Convention, contrary to existing stay orders and Court cases.

“I thought it fit to issue this statement to place on record certain facts for protecting my reputation and to indicate that we have not done any actions in violation of law,” he said.

Stating that the land on which the N-Convention Centre was built is a patta land, the actor said not even an inch of tank plan was encroached.

In respect of the building constructed inside the private land, there is a stay order granted against any earlier illegal notice for demolition, he said.

“Today clearly, the demolition was carried out wrongfully based on misinformation. No notice was issued prior to carrying out the demolition this morning. As a law-abiding citizen, if the Court before which the matter is pending, had decided against me, I would have carried out the demolition myself,” he said.

Stating that he was placing the facts on record for the purpose of correcting any public misimpression about wrongful constructions or encroachment by him, Nagarjuna said he would be seeking appropriate relief from the Court in relation to the wrong actions carried out by the authorities.

Apparently, the N-Convention was built on three acres of land belonging to the buffer zone of the lake, while he still has 26 acres of land adjacent to it in which there are other constructions.

It is learnt Nagarjuna has taken Rs 300 crore loan on the N-Convention and hence, the demolition has landed him in deep trouble.
