Every year, crores of Lord Ganesh idols are immersed into rivers and lakes, destroying the marine ecosystem, and causing immense harm than good.
TRS MP J Santosh Kumar, who is also a nature lover like his uncle and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, has now initiated a noble program of distributing Seed Ganesha to safeguard the environment.
Seed Ganesha- the seed within the Idol grows to be a plant within a week days. After immersing the eco-friendly idol at home, the sapling can be planted on the premises of houses.
Already one lakh Seed Ganesha idols are distributed and plans are on to distribute another one lakh idols before the festival.
Earlier, Santosh Kumar had taken up the Green India Challenge program which completed initial target of planting 3 crore saplings.
Politicians, celebrities, officials and general public participated in the initiative which attracted nationwide attention.
Apparently, Santosh Kumar’s every initiative is meant to increase the green cover in the state.
