Amidst talk of mid-term elections in Andhra Pradesh, the political atmosphere in Gannavaram assembly constituency in Krishna district have heated up with the local YSR Congress party leaders challenging the hegemony of defected sitting MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
Even as rebel leaders Dutta Ramachandra Rao and Yarlagadda Venkat Rao have refused to compromise with Vamsi and accept his leadership, another YSRC leader Shiv Bharat Reddy also raised a banner of revolt against the sitting MLA.
On Monday, Reddy too declared that there was no question of cooperating with Vamsi.
“We have told the party high command that we won’t work with Vamsi and there was no compromise with him,” he said.
Stating that they were keeping quiet because of the respect towards party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the YSRC leader said if required, he would show his power to Vamsi.
“I was born in Rayalaseema and I will show him what Rayalaseema pride is. We have grown independently in politics; unlike Vamsi who had been a sycophant for Rayalaseema leaders,” he said.
Reddy recalled that when Vamsi was in the TDP, he had abused late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Y S Vijayamma and even Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“Now that he is in YSRC, he has been using foul language against Chandrababu Naidu and his wife Bhuvaneshwari. That is his culture,” he said.
Stating that the local YSRC leaders had been loyal to the party right from the beginning, Reddy said they had not changed parties like Vamsi.
“We don’t know how many parties he would change in the coming months. It is better he is in his limits. Otherwise, we shall show what we are,” he challenged.
