Mohan Babu regrets, but defends attack on scribe

Hours after the Telangana police booked an attempt to murder case against him for assaulting a TV9 journalist, veteran actor Manchu Mohan Babu expressed regrets over the incident and said he had never intended to attack the scribe.

In an audio message released to the media, Mohan Babu clarified that he did not intend to attack the journalist. He said he was unaware whether the intruders at his house were journalists or others.

Expressing regret over the incident, the veteran actor, however defended his action.

“One should consider the context of the incident I regret hitting the media representative; it is true and not a lie. But how should anybody interfere in my family matters?” he asked.

He said he had never intended to attack media representatives but he feared some elements might use the media as a shield to attack him.

“The incident occurred in the dark. I regret that the blow I delivered accidentally hit a media person, who I regard as a brother. I’ve considered his family and children, but no one thought about my pain. I don't need to act in real life as I do in films,” he said.

Mohan Babu said he believed in honesty and justice.

"If I had acted improperly outside the gate, people could have filed 50 cases against me. But my peace and concentration were disrupted at home. Family issues will be resolved eventually without external interference," he said.
