This Sankranthi, audiences have witnessed two biggies – Ravi Teja’s “Krack” and Vijay’s “Master” - attracting maximum crowds at the ticket counters, reviving the theatrical business post corona period.
While “Krack” is a smashing blockbuster in Telugu states, Vijay’s movie set the screens on fire in Tamilnadu.
Since he is a bigger superstar, Thalapathy Vijay has a responsibility towards theatrical business. But Vijay agreeing to the film’s digital premiere with two weeks of its theatrical release has surprised the entire film trade in India.
“Master” is set to premiere on January 29 on Amazon Prime Video. The digital trailer is out.
Ravi Teja’s “Krack” will premiere on February 5 on Aha Video. Ravi Teja’s film is still running in theaters with an impressive occupancy.
With these two biggies hitting the OTT platforms in just two or three weeks of theatrical release, the business is going to be changed. The exhibitors may not agree to huge advances in the coming months.
The family audiences will not return to the theaters as well when they know that the big star movie would anyway stream in their homes in just two weeks.
Instead of spending more than 1000 rupees in the theaters, the family audiences would subscribe to a streaming platform.
Both Ravi Teja and Vijay have paved the way for other stars to follow.
If this trend continues, it would be the end of the theatrical window.
