The Covid pandemic is still ruling the roost and among the many industries which took the hit, the worst affected has been the entertainment industry.
Yet, the cine folks have not lost the spirit and they have been releasing the movies through the digital platform.
As part of that, after March 15th few films released on OTT and here is a list till November 20th:
Amrutharamam, Run, Penguin, Krishna And His Leela, 47 Days, Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna, Uma Maheswara Ugraroopasya, Johaar, Buchinaidu Khandriga, V, Amaram Akhilam Prema, Nishabdham, Orey Bujjiga and Colour Photo were released so far. Gatham, Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinuma and Middle Class Melodies are in line for November release.
Among all the releases, the trade experts say ‘Krishna And His Leela’ was the only movie which did a bit well. ‘Umamaheswara Ugraroopasya’ started well but dipped eventually within the content.
None of the movies were able to get the applause of the audience.
Meanwhile, Ram Gopal Varma had his thing going.
His ‘Power Star’ came in with a lot of hungama. It is not a film as it was of 35 minute duration. It made good money though and RGV showed he can make money through a short film as well. His other project ‘Naked-First Part’ also got good money but it is also a short film. The rest of the movies nobody bothered to watch.
As for the theatres, the latest updates reveal they will not open till March 2021.
Even if they do, people will not come thanks to the Covid crisis.
To add to the woes, if a second wave comes we may have to forget 2021 as well and stick to OTT only.
