Koratala Struggles to Trim Devara's Runtime

In recent times, movie runtimes have been increasing. Many directors are shooting lengthy films and then trimming them down during editing. This process not only affects the quality of the film but also results in financial losses for the producers.

In light of this trend, efforts to manage the length of the upcoming movie Devara, set to release this month, have already begun.

Director Koratala Siva decided to split Devara into two parts, as he found it too challenging to tell the entire story in a single film. As a result, the runtime shouldn’t be a major issue, as there is clarity about where the first part should conclude.

Reports suggest that the final cut of the first part of Devara currently stands at three hours and ten minutes, but efforts are being made to reduce it to two hours and fifty minutes. This is proving to be a difficult task, as trimming twenty minutes of footage is no easy feat.

One option for Koratala Siva is to move some scenes to the second part of the film. However, this comes with the risk of creating story jumps, which could affect the overall narrative.

Ensuring the film’s flow remains smooth while keeping the runtime in check is a challenging task. We’ll have to wait and see how Koratala handles this.
