Rakul Preet Singh has played the lead role named Obulamma in mega hero Vaishnav Tej’s second film Konda Polam directed by Krish. The film is gearing up for release on 8th of this month.
Rakul played village belle in films like Current Theega, Rarandoi Veduka Chudham, Khaki etc. But the actress says her character in Konda Polam is completely different.
“I will be seen as a shepherdess and I really thank Krish who believed that I can pull off this role.”
Cinematographer Gnana Shekar suggested Rakul’s name for the film.
“It’s a first of its kind story in India. We haven’t seen a film based on shepherds and a mini Jungle Book kind of movies till date.”
From learning the Rayalaseema accent to toning down skin color, Rakul gave her best to look apt in the role. However, due to busy with other films, she couldn’t dub for her role.
Rakul praises Krish for completing such tough film in less working days.
“When there was rain, Krish used to shoot rain sequences.”
The actress says though she couldn’t directly talk to Sai Dharam Tej, she enquired Vaishnav Tej about his health. “I wish him a speedy recovery.”
She has become very selective of late and is willing to do only challenging roles.
“I signed Konda Polam, because I loved the story and my character.”
Rakul affirms she has no qualms in doing OTT content, but condemned the reports of doing Karnam Malleswari biopic.
“If I do something for OTT, the content should be path-breaking one. I also wish to do female centric movies.”
Rakul confidently says that the much she and Krish liked Obulamma character, audience too will love it in similar manner.
“I don’t have any dream roles, but I wish to do films like DDLJ and Baahubali. Konda Polam is one such film that will be remembered for a lifetime.”
