Karan Johar, a filmmaker, explained the process of how the profits from a movie are divided among the various parties involved.
He stated that in the case of a high-profile director, a large portion goes to the lead actor, a smaller amount goes to the director, a little more goes to the writer, and the producer is the last to receive their share.
In his own words- "If it's a big director then...50 to the star and 30 to... director, a little more to the writer, and...producer is the last person to make money", Karan said.
Johar also mentioned that it can be difficult to negotiate with actors compared to distributors.
