Kamal Haasan Paid Rs 150 Cr for 'Indian' Sequel?

Shankar’s magnum opus, "Indian 2," is finally out in theaters after a long wait. The film faced several postponements, casting a shadow over its release.

However, better late than never, now that the highly anticipated movie is on the big screen, all eyes are on its box office performance worldwide.

Amid this excitement, there’s a lot of buzz about the budget and Kamal Haasan’s salary.

The film is a sequel to 1996’s "Indian," which starred Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar alongside Kamal Haasan.

The original film received highly positive reviews and was a big success at the box office, also enjoying good viewership on television. Known for his grand scale productions, Shankar decided to take the second installment to an even higher level.

For those who don’t know, "Indian 2" was announced in 2017. Due to COVID-19 and several other reasons, the film experienced delays, leading to an inflated budget.

While the exact number isn’t confirmed, rumors suggest that the production cost is around 250 crores. Combined with the first installment, the total budget reportedly stands at 500 crores.

It’s also rumored that Kamal Haasan charged a whopping 150 crores for "Indian 2" and "Indian 3," averaging 75 crores per film. This means the veteran actor took home a staggering 30% of the sequel’s total budget as his paycheck.

This paycheck is substantial, especially considering that Kamal Haasan was reportedly paid around 20 crores for "Kalki 2898 AD" and 50 crores for "Vikram."
