Nag Ashwin directed mythological sci–fi film Kalki 2898 AD, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone is showing great resistance at the box office, despite being in its sixth week.
The week didn’t begin on a good note for the film, as it minted just Rs 65 lakh on Friday, but on Saturday the film saw a more than 100 % jump in its collection, to earn Rs 1.35 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk.
Of Saturday’s collection, the Hindi version has been the highest contributor with Rs 92 lakhs, followed by Telugu with Rs 32 lakh. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 637.95 crore, and is expected to collect more than Saturday’s collection on Sunday.
The film is currently facing heat from Deadpool & Wolverine at the box office. Also being in the sixth week, most audiences have already seen the film. Now, with news doing the rounds that by month end the film will be on OTT can be reason for fans to not go to the theaters.
Kalki 2898 AD is currently in the race for the fourth spot of highest grossing Indian film trying to replace Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan which minted over Rs 640 crore.
