Sometimes an entire month passes without even an average hit in Tollywood. This year, July's box office is like a maiden over. Some films were released, and none of them succeeded.
No movies were released in the first week of July, for a particular reason.
The movie "Kalki," released in the last week of June, received positive reviews. As a result, no one dared to release another movie in the first week of July.
"Bharatiyadudu 2," released in the second week, flopped despite being a collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Shankar. It failed to meet the expectations set by Shankar's previous movies, which was a major drawback.
Alongside this movie, "Sarangadariya," released the same week, also failed to perform.
Another flop came in the third week with the movie "Darling," starring Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh. The film felt chaotic and confused overall.
Other small movies like "The Birthday Boy," "Crime Reel" and "Pekamedalu" were released but they also flopped. Although "Pekamedalu" had commendable content, it reinforced the notion that small films struggle to find a place in theaters.
Two noteworthy films were released in the last week of July; Dhanush's 50th film "Raayan" and Raj Tarun's "Purushottamudu." Both films failed to perform at the box office. While "Raayan" was a hit in Tamil, it did not resonate with the Telugu audience. The failure of the second half was a significant drawback for this movie.
"Purushothamudu," despite its strong cast, could not stand out. Additionally, movies like "Operation Raavan" and "Gully Gang Stars" did not make an impact.
Overall, there was not a single hit in July.
