It has been more than a decade since one has heard about veteran Kapu leader and former Lok Sabha member from Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah.
The 84-year old Kapu leader, who had once played a key role in West Godavari politics, has been in a virtual political hibernation as there are no takers for him.
Yet, he has not lost interest in politics and made an attempt to get closer to power star Pawan Kalyan and try his luck with Jana Sena.
On the occasion of Pawan Kalyan’s birthday on Thursday, Harirama Jogaiah tried to get into the good books of the power star by creating a hungama in the name of Kapu Sena. He made use of his connections in the film industry to get closer to Pawan Kalyan.
Instead of choosing Palkollu or Narasapuram to kick up the Kapu sentiment, Jogaiah decided to celebrate Pawan Kalyan’s birthday under Kapu Sena banner in Hyderabad, where caste-based politics do not work out.
What is worse, he entrusted the task of celebrating Pawan’s birthday to a Tollywood personality, who was asked to invite prominent Kapus among the film industry.
Though some of the big names like Maruthi were flashed on the invitation, none of them turned up, except a couple of people like Bunny Vaas, who hails from Palakollu.
Ultimately, the programme turned out to be a big flop as many of them stayed away because of the Kapu tag.
The Telugu film industry is running smoothly without displaying any caste equations. Under such circumstances, who would come for the sake of Harirama Jogaiah and get the caste tag?
Moreover, Pawan Kalyan himself doesn’t want to be identified as a Kapu leader. How can he allow his colleagues in the industry to be polarised on caste lines? Moreover, Pawan Kalyan doesn’t like such caste-based programmes
So, Harirama Jogaiah’s Kapu Sena plan boomeranged on him. Despite spending huge money, he could gain nothing from it.
One doesn’t know who gave him such an idea, but it turned out to be a mega flop!
