'It Really Hurts,' Says Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor, who has recently seen success with her films GoodLuck Jerry and Mili, both released in 2022, spoke to Harper's Bazaar about handling criticism.

The daughter of the late veteran actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor and sister of Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi expressed that it's "hurtful" when she is called "nepotism ki bacchi?" by anonymous individuals on the internet.

"No matter what you do, someone will find faults or have something to say because that makes them feel important and the next thing you know, you've made the headlines," she said.

Janhvi revealed how she deals with criticism by stating that she's grateful to have reached a point where she can laugh it off.

"I know my strengths and weaknesses and I'm objective enough to know when I've done a good job and when I haven't. I think through my last two films, I've established that I have something to offer as an actor," she added.

The actress went on to say that it hurts when she puts in hard work and someone reduces her to something insignificant by saying things like "if you can't act, why do you try, nepo-baby?" However, she also stated that she respects when someone appreciates her work and gives constructive feedback.

"If somebody says, 'You were good in Mili, but you could improve your performance in another film,' then I respect that," she said. "You get to a point where you have to acknowledge that some people are sad and trying to take away your happiness."

Janhvi's films GoodLuck Jerry and Mili were well received by audiences and she received praise for her performances. She made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with the film Dhadak, alongside Ishaan Khatter.
