The Tollywood industry was once again rocked by IT raids. The offices of Sukumar, the director of the movie 'Pushpa', and Mythri Movie Makers, which produced the film, were raided by IT officials in Banjara Hills, Madapur, Jubilee Hills, and other areas.
It appears that the searches were carried out due to suspicions of tax evasion related to recent movie releases. Even before the release of Mythri banner's films 'Veerasimha Reddy' and 'Waltair Veeraya,' IT officials had conducted searches.
The attacks on Mythri Movie Makers, the largest production company in Tollywood, have become a hot topic in the industry circles. The IT officials' main reason for the raids is believed to be money laundering.
Officials suspect that there are discrepancies in the investments made in the films produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Rumors suggest that two MLAs have invested their illegally obtained wealth in movies through Mythri Movie Makers, one from Andhra Pradesh and the other from Telangana.
According to sources, officials from the IT department received information from sources in Mumbai about a clandestine transaction involving a Bollywood network and when they tracked it, they found the nexus with Mythri group.
Another source says a different story stating that a huge fund of Rs 500 Cr has come from USA via grey route, which happened to be the crux of the case.
