'Naatu Naatu' from RRR won the award under the Best Original Song category but not under Best Music Director.
MM Keeravani has no moral right to take the award all by himself without making the lyricist part of it. A song is an intellectual property of both the music director and the lyricist. Rest of technicians and singers come under performers but not creators.
Keeping this aside, lyricist Chandrabose was grossly insulted by the Golden Globe Awards committee by mentioning some other names as lyricists for the song.
The committee mentioned Kala Bhairava and Rahul Spligunj under the tag 'lyrics by'. This cannot be ruled out as a slip of the pen.
When the Awards Committee correctly mentioned the names of Music Directors and Lyricists for all the nominees, only RRR's 'Naatu Naatu' has typed the wrong names under the 'lyrics by'. It is known that the committee mentions the names given by the applicants.
A heavy criticism is heard all over that Chandrabose was conveniently sidelined by Rajamouli and family.
An insider said- "SS Rajamouli reached till Golden Globe and Oscar by spending his own money and so he wanted this to be a family affair rather than a professional thing. He wanted to see his brother Keeravani take the award all by himself without sharing the picture with anyone else out of his family.
Moreover, mentioning the names of Kalabhairava under 'lyrics by' column is intentional but not any mistake. They wanted to project another family member's name in international awards. He's Kalabhairava, the Keeravani's son. But he is one of the singers of the song and there is no column for singers in this category to mention.
So he's placed as lyricist. Since Rahul Sipligunj also sang along with Kalabhairava his name was also included by luck but under the same wrong tag. With this Rajamouli and Keeravani may conveniently point their fingers at Golden Globe Committee stating that they mentioned the names of singers instead of the lyricist by mistake.
As mentioned, the names of 'singers' cannot be mentioned in the 'Best Original Song' category as only the Music Director and Lyricist are the property right owners of the song as creators. It's a gross injustice to Chandrabose. This incident clearly shows the selfishness of Rajamouli and Keeravani families".
In fact in his address to the public after receiving the award MM Keeravani mentioned the name of lyricist Chandrabose along with choreographer Prem Rakshit and all the technicians who worked for the song and the actors who danced. Though irrelevant, he mentioned the name of his wife Valli twice in the beginning and the end.
