For a Tamil film, "Indian 2's" first-day North American box office performance is impressive.
The movie was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. While the Tamil version grossed more than $1 million on its first day (including premieres), the Telugu version performed equally well. However, there were no takers for the Hindi version.
"Indian 2" grossed $1.37 million in North America across all three languages. Considering that director Shankar has been in poor form, the collections are decent. On its first day, Kamal Haasan's previous film "Vikram" grossed $862,000.
North America Day 1 collections totaled $1,379,576 (Tamil: $1,003,132; Telugu: $365,199; Hindi: $11,245).
"Indian 2" received overwhelmingly negative reviews and feedback, so the film is not expected to see any further growth during the weekend.
