Tamil Superstar Vijay’s upcoming film Master is one of the biggies that have been stuck due to the lockdown of movie theaters.
Time and again, the media is speculating that Master will be directly dropping on OTT platforms.
The producers of Master have condemned the news reports and stated that Master will release in theaters whenever the cinema theaters are opened.
Vijay’s films have been consistently grossing over Rs 200 Crore at the box office.
It is impossible for a biggie like Master to recover that amount through digital release. Also, Master cannot be released during off season. It will either release for Diwali or Pongal if the coronavirus curve flattens by that time.
Although a couple of big Bollywood films are directly releasing on Disney+Hotstar, movies of over Rs 100 Cr potential are still waiting for the theatrical release.
When Bollywood big movies that have wide reach on OTT platforms cannot go for digital release, it is near impossible for South biggies to opt for OTT release.
